Mino – Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mino (the "App"), developed by Didier Fuentes. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
Use of the App
Mino is an iOS app for photographing animals, identifying them, and keeping your sightings in a personal Dex on your device. The App is free and provided for personal, non-commercial use.
Automated Identification Disclaimer
Mino identifies animals and writes Dex entries automatically, using Anthropic's Claude. These results are best-effort and will sometimes be wrong. An animal may be misidentified, filed under the wrong entry, or described with inaccurate facts.
Never rely on Mino to decide whether an animal is safe — whether it is venomous, dangerous, protected, or safe to approach, touch, handle or eat. Keep a respectful distance from wildlife, follow local rules, and consult an expert when it matters. Mino is for curiosity and keeping a record, not a field authority.
Identification Service
Identification needs an internet connection and uses Mino's server. To keep the service available for everyone, each device has a daily limit on identifications, and there is an overall daily limit as well. Identification may occasionally be unavailable, slow, or limited. Sightings saved without an identification are kept on your device until one succeeds.
User Content
Your photos, sightings, notes and tags are stored on your device. Photos you identify are sent for identification as described in the Privacy Policy and are not stored on our servers. You retain ownership of your content at all times.
Only photograph where you are allowed to, and respect other people's privacy.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to reverse engineer or disrupt the App or its server
- Use the identification service for anything other than identifying animals through the App, or try to get around its limits
- Abuse or overload the App or the services it depends on
Changes and Availability
We may update, modify, or discontinue any part of the App at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable if the App or any feature becomes unavailable, including where a third-party service the App depends on changes or withdraws access.
Limitation of Liability
Mino is provided "as is" and "as available."
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Didier Fuentes is not liable for any damages resulting from:
- Incorrect identifications or information
- Any decision or action you take based on the App's results
- Data loss, including the loss of sightings stored on your device
- Service interruptions or limits
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the App or its identification service if you violate these Terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example if accounts or sharing features are added. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
