Huginn – Privacy Policy

Huginn is developed by Didier Fuentes. Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Information We Collect

Huginn accesses your Gmail inbox via the Gmail REST API using OAuth 2.0. The app requests the gmail.modify scope, which allows it to read messages and modify labels (e.g., archiving). No broader access is requested.

Email content is processed entirely on your device for text-to-speech synthesis. Your emails are never sent to external servers for audio generation.

We collect limited, non-personal usage data to understand how the app is used and to improve its performance. This may include app interactions, feature usage, and crash or performance data.

Third-Party Services

Huginn uses third-party services that may collect anonymous usage data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase (authentication, app stability, and analytics)
  • Google Sign-In SDK (OAuth 2.0 authentication for Gmail access)

These services do not provide us with information that personally identifies you beyond what is required for Gmail authentication.

On-Device Processing

All text-to-speech synthesis happens on your iPhone using Sherpa ONNX. No email content is transmitted to external servers for audio generation. Generated audio is cached locally on your device and can be cleared at any time.

Data Storage

  • Email data is cached locally on your device for fast access.
  • Playback positions and queue state are stored locally on your device.
  • TTS voice models are downloaded and stored locally on your device.
  • No email content is stored on our servers.

Data Usage

Collected data is used solely to:

  • Operate and improve the app
  • Monitor performance and fix issues
  • Authenticate with Gmail

We do not sell, rent, or share user data for advertising or tracking purposes.

Children's Privacy

Huginn is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Tracking

Huginn does not track users across apps or websites and does not use data for targeted advertising.
